Inawa Institute, in collaboration with Vanguard Economics, conducted the mid-term evaluation of the Centre for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) program, a flagship Mastercard Foundation initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of educational technologies across Africa.
Over two months of intensive fieldwork in Cotonou, Parakou and Abomey-Calavi, our teams engaged directly with schools, teachers and students to assess the effectiveness, relevance and impact of EdTech platforms on educational practices and outcomes, particularly for the most underserved communities.
The evaluation went beyond data collection. It was designed as a structured dialogue between researchers, educators, policymakers and innovators, generating insights that are both analytically rigorous and actionable on the ground.
The findings reinforce a central conviction: technology holds transformative potential for African education, provided it is adapted to local contexts and embedded in a broader ecosystem of support and commitment.
